Our Story
Lying back in our canvas beach chairs as the tide was beginning to cover our feet, we decided that we wanted to do something that brought the same feeling of enjoyment and peacefulness that we experienced as kids growing up with summers on the sea. When we thought of the best times of our lives, we thought of friends, family, sun and sand. Whether it was spending summers life guarding on the Delaware coast or sailing on the Eastern Shore, our lives seemed to be drawn to the water. The one constant in our lives had always been the shore, no matter how hectic and crazy life got we could always escape to that one place that has remained unchanged, simple, and unbounded for generations. Upon graduating from the University of Virginia and Georgetown University, we both came to the same conclusion… most of our friends and family have all shared our experience in some way and somewhere along the coast. And so Matthews Whyte was created.
Our mission is plain and simple, to bring the coastal living to You… no matter where you are. We started as a company for friends and family enjoying long summers at the beach and the weekend adventurers out chasing the wind and surf; Now we are bringing quality products with a little East Coast style and comfort.
